December 2012
At the end of 2012, the Conservation Department invited Norfolk Record Office paper conservator Yuki Uchida, to provide some training in the mounting of documents and works on paper. We were shown various different styles of mounting and methods of securing works within mounts. The techniques Yuki showed us, which utilise different grades of Japanese papers and wheat starch paste, are specifically designed to be easily reversed and safely support the works when mounted. Members of the Design & Technical team also joined the training day, which proved a useful sharing of knowledge and discussion opportunity!
