Last month, the Conservation Team hosted a meeting of the East Anglian Conservator’s Forum (EACF) at the Castle Museum and Study Centre. Twenty five conservators were able to see and discuss the conservation of the Egyptian Shroud from the Colman Collection that was conserved in a partnership project with the British Museum. A gallery tour discussing the conservation, mounting and display of textile objects in the Arts of Living Galleries was also conducted by Debbie Phipps.

Curator Ruth Battersby Tooke discussed the logistics of moving an entire costume and textile collection from one site to another, and provided a tour of the new stores in the Study Centre. A series of talks presented by private practice textile conservators reflected on different aspects of textile conservation projects mainly at National Trust properties.

Feedback has been gratifyingly positive and there was much dialogue generated over shared textile conservation and storage challenges!
