The Norfolk Record Office has a large, climate-controlled studio with two Conservators and one Conservation Technician:
Nick Sellwood
Senior Conservator at the Norfolk Record Office
Nick has been employed from April 2005. He has responsibility for the conservation studio, in-house preservation and conservation and external conservation contracts.
Nick began his career at The British Library in 1993 where he did his traineeship. He has worked at the House of Lords’ bindery, Colindale Newspaper Library and in 1998 moved to the Book Conservation studio in the new British Library building at St. Pancras. Since then, Nick has worked on a wide variety of material from around the world.
Yuki Russell
Archive Conservator at the Norfolk Record Office
Yuki Russell undertook an MA in conservation at Tokyo University of the Arts. During and after initial training, she worked as an assistant restorer of Japanese scroll paintings for a private workshop and later the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo. In 2008, Yuki completed an MA in conservation of works on paper at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, during which she undertook internships in various London museums. Since 2008, Yuki has worked as an archive conservator for Norfolk Record Office. In 2010, she studiedtechniques in parchment conservation under the Society of Archivists’ Conservation Training Scheme (Parchment Module). Encountering a wide range of parchment items through our collection has enabled her to broaden her understanding of parchment as a unique material.
Dylan Read
Conservation Technician at the Norfolk Record Office
Dylan Read completed the Institute of Conservation (ICON), Conservation Technician qualification in 2010. He is involved in many aspects of collection care work, from packaging to conservation housekeeping.
