Conservation of a Native American Indian Feather War Bonnet

A request to conserve a Native American Indian war bonnet involved careful and sympathetic cleaning, repair, feather re-shaping and mounting.

The owner was a passionate collector who was eager to learn more about this spectacular object, so we asked our Natural History Curator to identify the feathers of the different species of birds, including golden eagle, barn owl and crow, used in its construction.
